Good morning and happy Sunday to all Fishing Stagers and guests.
”How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.“
Philippians 4:10-14 NLT
The above is a portion of the letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, while chained up in a prison in Rome in approximately A.D. 61. He did this while being constantly watched by a Roman guard. It was, without a doubt, one of the very difficult times in Paul’s life.
Just as Paul would have struggles in his life, Jesus tells His followers, (which also includes us) that they, too will have troubles. The day before Jesus was crucified, He told His disciples:
”I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”“
John 16:33 NLT
Even if you are going through one of the most difficult struggles of your life, Jesus tells us:
”Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”“
Hebrews 13:5
On Saturday’s “Thought For Today”,
Graywolf (Mike) wrote:
“In all things and for all things Give Thanks…..”
I believe that no matter how bad things seem to be going, there is ALWAYS something to give thanks for. Just think for a moment…🤔
Another thing that always helps when we get “down in the dumps”, is to just laugh a little! Here’s another quote by another one of our favorite Stagers, who “just happened” (NOT) to post a very timely saying that goes perfectly with our devotion today.
Doug Lemmon:
Laughter is like soap for the soul.. it'll wash away hurt and pain like nothing else.
Doug posted this on Tuesday, this week. On Sunday, a week ago, I “just happened” (🥴) to run across the video for today’s devotion. The title is “Clean Christian Comedy” and it’s by one of my favorite comedians, JEFF FOXWORTHY!
I hope y’all enjoy it, and even more, I hope it makes you laugh and blesses you as much as it did me.
I truly believe that this comedian could change your life.
Please, don’t miss this one.
God bless you all. 🙏🏻
