Just wondering.
Was anyone fishing during the total eclipse
Did you notice any change in the fishing over the time or no difference??

My son was fishing from about noon to 6 p.m. at our local lake (Lake Royal for anyone familiar with the NoVA area) and said he was catching dinks up until the eclipse started. Then the bite completely died during the darkness, but then picked up again when the moon rolled off. He said it was really weird.

Was on San Vincente Reservoir during the eclipse and did not notice much difference. But we had a much smaller version than the midwest.

I have an idea about that, but really just taking a wild guess. Maybe, the shadowy darkness instinctively represented a giant prey looming over the fish, and they scooted off to safety in the weeds and their other cover. ? .

Could be. I wrongly predicted that the bite would increase like how bass tend to be more active at the dawn and at dusk transitions, and also having both the sun AND the moon's gravity pulling on the earth would bring the baitfish closer to the water's surface thus attracting the bass.

DC, it's just fun to speculate, even if it never seems to result in more catching 🫤.
