Nice, Gordon! We were in Myrtle Beach that week and trekked to Georgetown to experience the full eclipse. It was overcast with occasional showers that morning but at the time of the event, the clouds parted and we were able to witness the event with thousands of others parked on both shoulders of Rt. 17, where the bullseye crossed over. When it was over and everyone pulled out to drive back, a full on t-storm rolled in and continued through the night. Talk about timing!!

Same here. The clouds parted just long enough to view it.

Very cool Gordon. Today just the opposite happened here. The clouds rolled in just as it started. It was only 92% here anyway. Oh well, it looked cool on TV.

Managed to get a snapshot at peak from here in VA. Hoping one of the stagers along the path of totality posts a pic.

A coworker took this pic through a welders helmet about 10 minutes ahead of the peak, she is calling it β€œthe eye of God”

Here in central Texas, skys were partly cloudy but open enough to get a good view.
Can you just imagine what primitive people thought when this heavenly phenomenon happened? All the birds and animals went to bed thinking day was over? My wife and I were out on sidewalk when it started getting dark. I watched as sparrows and other small birds that nest in the shrubbery, hastened home and to their nest! Just Sayin...RJS
