I'm new to trolling and been trying to troll my local pond it's mybe 5-10' at its deepest but no luck . I'm using dragging weights with a 18-24 leader with 7/0 hook and float about 3 inches above hook. Troll about .5mh . Any suggestions or tips.

Hi rowdycowboy , what fish are you targeting? .5mph ? Maybe to 1-2 mph,,?
Catfish I'm not big on fishing for much else except for carp on the bank for bait
Trolling for catfish only other thing I fish for is carp for bait.

Oh ,ok, I've never trolled for Catfish before , hopefully someone else here has , We fish Catfish hooks anywhere from 6-12 inches off the bottom with the weight on the bottom , hooks sometimes laying on the bottom , Chicken Livers, Catfish Stinky Bait , Night Crawlers , Worms , Hot Dog slices etc. Hope that helps Good Luck to You & Tightlines Rowdy 🤙
The only cats that I have caught trolling were flat heads.
I generally just soak bait for blues and channel cats
My favorite bait is shrimp from the grocery store in the seafood section. The cheapest of selection.
Works for me, good luck ☺️
Hey rwdy. I’m Ken Awtry also from Hobbs. I’m retired and love to fish. I have a bass boat but don’t have a partner to fish with except my wife but she can only go on weekends if we’re not busy.
Let me know if you have an itch to hit the lake?
Thanks everyone for the info. I've banked fished for years and just got me a small boat. I. Just going to have to play with my setups and try different speeds and baits. It could be cause I'm doing it at my local mud hole. Probably need to get to Brantley and try.
Hey Ken. I don't get to the lake very often couse of work and kids activities. But mybe we can meet up one day and do some fishing at Green medows or Chaparral.
Cabellas makes a worm harness that works on about any fish. Try a night crawler on one and see what happens
