I have been so tired of coming home skunked time and time again at both of these lakes. If anyone has got these lakes dialed in please send any tips spots or even a lake preference would be helpful

Hi, I've read that skunks don't like the smell of Vinegar, Ammonia or Mothballs. Keep those around.

Not because I'm an expert fisherman, but because something I'm doing is working right now. My understanding is we are still pre-spawn, but that will change soon.

The bite between 8am and 4pm stinks at Sag. Seems like that's when most people fish. Pre dawn and dawn is ok but the bite the last few days at dusk has been incredible. I fished last night until dark. I've never seen anything like it.

I'm using deep diving crankbait. I was using the extra deep crank but now using 14-16 feet and dragging it over rocks, rocky points, reefs, ledges in multiple places in the back lake. The manufacturer doesn't matter. Traditional shad colors with maybe some green or chartreuse mixed in.

Picture rocks or rock piles with the fish finder. Put your boat on one side of it and make long casts, way past the structure. I reel as fast as I can and pull to get the crank down so it runs into the structure. Then I slow the retrieve a little but the crank is bumping and grinding over the rocks. Soon as I'm past the structure I speed it up again. I loose a lure or three every outing but they float so I find that many of them resurface. The strike comes while bumping and grinding and some come after. They might follow it out? I cast 15 or 20 times from different angles. It I don't have a strike I move on to a different structure.

I spend a lot of time just looking for bigger fish in and around structure. I go early and stay late watching boats. The ones fishing pre dawn and dusk are serious fisherman. I have binoculars in the boat to see how they are fishing. I really can't give tips on finesse fishing. I will likely need a while new strategy once the spawn really kicks in. I'll be asking for tips from others soon.

Good luck and hope it helps.
