I’m totally clueless to what I’m doing but would love to chat about fishing and where to go. I’m in Victoria,Texas. I’ve lived by the beach all my life and live the water. I’m really just learning how to fish and want know so much more. If anyone has any tips please share them with me. Thank you.

Are you targeting a specific species or more of an anything that bites kinda fisherman? Boat, kayak, or shore fisherman? Guys on here will give you some pointers but it helps if they know a little more about what you are trying to accomplish. Also, saltwater or fresh? Lake or river? Good luck!

Mostly salt water and I’ve never caught a red fish! I think everyone I know has caught one!😔 lol…I just buried my daddy after losing his battle to cancer. I was taking care of him and now I am here all alone and being at the coast or near any water has always given peace. It’s pure serenity!

Welcome aboard.
Sorry for your loss.
My suggestion for red fish is heat a buddy and go to a marina on the coast discuss a guided trip
Quick way to learn and catch fish. Both reds and trout.

Ddo, When ya wanna reply to the person who communicated with you, use the "Quote Reply" button. That will place their mail to you above your answer/reply/update ..... Using the "Reply" puts it out there but it gets a little confusing, especially when there are several people in the loop. Whe you get this one you'll see what I mean. Nutz🥜.

Best teacher is bait in the water. The more you fish the more you learn. Don't get hooked on recommendations by television pros and their fishing gear commercials, they get paid and sponsors recommending that stuff. Read fishing reports by average fishermen that actually use the products and catch fish. You can learn alot watching utube or hiring a guide for a day. I would start out with dead shrimp or live shrimp, mud minnows or cut bait. As you progress you can move up to artificials if you want. You can start fishing on the bottom or under a popping cork, again utube can help you here. Last but not least, don't discount the experience catching hard heads can give you with feeling the different bites.
