Got out again today. Second day this year. Temperature was 29° to start. A character builder. Water temperature dropped overnight from 50° down to 45° at the start. We did ok today still using the 2.8” Keitech. Nothing else produced. Tried crank baits, wacky worms, chatter bait, underspins, and buzz baits. Only the Keitech produced.
My brother caught the first two fish and then I caught one. All before 0900.
The fish are relating to wood or grass or rocks. Perhaps they heat up faster and provide a better comfort level.
Heading out again in the morning.
Winds were WSW at 9 gusting to 19 MPH. We had white caps and then no white caps. Mother Nature had her way. I caught another quality bass weighing in at 4.14 pounds.
Another fun day with no skunk.

Nice catching again Jer. That's too cold for my blood buddy, but glad you're enjoying yourself. Thanks for the report and pix.

My pleasure Fred. We can’t pick our weather, but with no clouds, it did warm up quickly. We actually hit 58° for the high today. It’s always cooler on the water. We were off the water before we hit today’s high.

Weather forecasts crack me up. They call that a 58° day. It's 58° for about 15 or 20 minutes at the peak of the day, usually around 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

Nicely done Jer, start with the West and North shores as those warm up first. Then follow the wind as the warmer water will be blown in that direction and the fish food may travel with it. Slow presentations are crucial in cold water.
Good luck!

Congrats Jer and thanks for the pictures. We have now had the boat in the water 5 times with only one catch and release walleye. It actually got in the 60's for a while yesterday but the water temp is still 40° so everything is moving really slow. The wind is averaging 5 to 20 mph today with a short time of it reaching 57° so we won't be going out today.

Thanks Four. We do have a good time together. Lots of laughs and a few fish make it even better.

Thanks John. That was our plan, starting on the North shore we picked up one bass about 12” in length. Unfortunately we decided not to follow the wind because of the rough water. Plenty of whitecaps for most of the day. These two old guys opted for protected coves.

Absolutely, Plum. Two 4+ pounders in two days is magical. Keeps the blood flowing too.
We’re heading out again this morning. Starting air temperature is 41°. Kinda balmy compared to the last couple of days.😁
