Hey y'all anybody know some decent spots in Denver I can fish in? I've been traveling a lot lately and want to try and catch a fish in every state I visit and Colorado would be stop 1! Thanks!

Chatfield dam outside of Denver's pretty awesome for walleye fish the spillway below the dam Also the South Platte runs all through that area and well sometimes the fish can be few and far between you have a good chance of catching a trout And if you end up having A-day to explore I would recommend driving to Estes park the river that flows through town is packed with trout.

If you're familiar with fishing with lures bring an ultra light rod with 6 pound test and cast a rooster tail in the rivers. If you want to do bait go to Chatfield and on the spillway put on a small weight and thread on a worm and you can catch walleye and small mouth down there all day long

I understood....half of what you said lol. I'll see if my uncle has a rod I can use, but all I've got is my travel rod and reel. Daiwa ardito MH rod and a Shimano Chronarch

It's a medium power fast action. Idk how much rod itself weighs. Line is 15lb.

youd be good casting bait, itd be hard casting trout lures unless you used a 1/4 to 3/8 oz. spoons

I could try spoons. It's an interesting adventure for sure. I should probably get an ultralight setup for this in the future.

Check out Windsor Lake. 35 years ago when I was stationed at Lowry AFB a fellow sailor and I went there and caught about a dozen 12 - 14 inch rainbows using power bait. Lowry is long gone, but according to google maps Windsor is still there and rumor has it it is stocked with trouts. Have fun. I am on a similar quest - to catch a fish in every country in the world. I'm sure I'll never make it, but it's the journey that matters, not so much the destination. And who knows?

Waterton Canyon. Platte river runs through there, easy access.

Go up to deckers for river fishing. Bailey / Conifer area. Hey 285 I would recommend taking that down to fox tonight rd. Take a left all the way down to bottom of the hill you can go right or left at fork in the road. Go either way I like going left all the way back to green bridge. You can park there and walk and fish all the way back through the canyon or you can keep driving over green bridge and fish for miles back throughout the deckers river (south platte) I can say you will catch some nice trout of all breeds, rainbow, Browns, cutthroat, etc... enjoy and stay the course

Lures and bait both work if you go to south platte as I mentioned in other reply. Worms, fireballs, grasshoppers etc... big trout in there 18" to 22" seems to be average every time I’m there.
