Out and about today on the local golf course ponds in my development.
Bass were biting and I had a few and then hooked this. I swear it weighed 10lbs😂
Had to retrieve it from the grass and couldn’t(really wouldn’t) pick it up by hand.
Had to use pliers. I am assuming some sort of Carp. Wadda u thunk😎

Grass carp don’t have sucker lips. May be the culprit

I believe that may be a tilapia.
If so, it's a big one to me.

Having lived in Florida for a few years fishing the golf courses and neighborhood flood control ponds, it looked like the tilapia I used to see.
I uploaded your image to lens.google.com and came up with this.
This is a handy website to identify any image in a photo.

That is a tilapia but out of the ponds by the golf course I would not eat any of the fish for the runoff of fertilize,

They're the best Snook bait you can get, catch them in a bait net about 4-5" and the Snook can't pass it up,, that's why they run up Peace River like they do...at times I catch more and bigger snook on Peace River (ten minutes from my house) than I do in Charlotte harbor 🎣🎣 60 miles away...

Thanks for the info. BTW any fresh water fish, for me, is catch and release.😃
