Morning Stagers , I'm putting the final touches on the yac getting ready for the new season. The weather has been very unpredictable and the wind around here has been brutal even on nicer sunny days(2) .
This is year two for this yac and I've added some protection to the keel. I got some .080 Keydex for the guards and added it to the main keel in the front and the front parts of the start of the two wider sections of the ( pontoon hull) that tend to show a little more wear . After making a pattern you just heat up the Keydex with a heat gun and mold it into shape then I attached it with GFlex epoxy . It's done but it's been raining for two days and I'm waiting to uncover it. So here's some starting pics. πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Nice work Andy. That'll definitely help protect the hull when you beach the bow. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‰

I try to be careful with my equipment but as you know I fish often and hard . This addition will help when using those concrete launches. Just one less worry when "Rippn' Lips". Be nice seeing everyone again in a few months. Gotta wait till the wind quits howling up here then get some quality fishn' in . Better gets some practice so I can keep up!! πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Kandy, there are so many models to choose from in different weights (if you think that is the issue). Many lengths to choose from as well. They are a lot of fun! Ride on units are easier to enter and exit, but ride in units are very comfortable. You don’t have to break the bank to get started, either.

That looks great Andy and will surely protect your yak. I’ve got a couple of knife sheathes made of kytex, they’re nearly indestructible.

Yes, weight is definitely the issue. I am considered 'petite'. That and I drive a Prius.

Nice yak! My wife likes to fish from hers. For some reason I always end up on the bottom of the lake when I use one. I do pΕ•efer to. fish from the top down rather than bottoms up.

I can relate to fishing from the bottom up (once) with this yac. It seems a lot easier to keep tools and rods at the ready when the yac is right side up. I have made a costly donation to the Fish Gods once , just a dumb move on my part in some nasty rollers caused that. Other than that one time I don't worry about flipping or having to do a deep water reentry. It's just part of the game. Flip it back over , collect the stuff floating around you in the water, dry off and keep on fishn'. It's like everything else some things are for some people and not for others.
