Are March and April good months to shore fish in Naples?

It is not the best of months... The fishing pier is still not reconstructed, but try fishing from the Beach anywhere in Naples/Marco Island, Pompano season is in full swing and that in itself should be a motivator, use Pompano Rigs, Live shrimp & gum baits from the shore and you should be able to catch, ladyfish, Palmetto's Jacks, Pomps, Herrings and maybe even Snook. be patient ! Early morning, and evenings before sunset works well. But lately lots of people are catching fish in the middle of the day from mid-morning to a little after lunch 11am-2pm. So basically almost anytime but do avoid that 3pm-6pm time frame.

Happy Fishing & Tight lines !

The proper answer to your inquiry is there isn’t such a thing as a bad time to fish, though there are certain times when better fishing can be had. Don’t allow such opportunities to elude you. If you’re able to get out there, please do so.

For what reason(s) do you say to avoid beach/shore fishing between 3 & 6 o’clock?

Its not that it is bad, yes you can fish anytime and that makes it good, I'm just sayin from experience...The Sun is hottest at that point, tides are usually changing drastically either from Low to High or vice versa. I look at it as a time of day where you are most likely to get skunked. Look at it as a break, then resume the fishing in the early evening or dusk/sunset when it gets good again ! That is if you plan on being out there more than 12 hours !

Thanks

Thank you for the insightful explanation of your fishing preferences. I always find it interesting to hear the supportive foundational components others use to guide their actions. What you said all makes sense & I do appreciate your willingness to share.
I typically don’t partake in too much fishing as sunset approaches due to the heavy harassment of those nasty “No-See-Um” bugs that seem to prefer that time of day to do most of their feeding(on me). If they didn’t leave me with such intense itching welts that persist for four to six weeks I’d surely spend more evenings with a line in the water. It just isn’t worth it considering the extent of torturous irritation I am forced to endure as a result of their bites.

Hope you find some success & maybe you’ll even have a chance to share what you experienced with the group here..?
I will be coming back down that way in two weeks with plans to fish at least a couple hours every day of my visit.

I was fishing the Posts near Gordons Pass last night the 4th. I need to check the wind better. It was 22MPH gusts. We caught several catfish on shrimp bait, but that was it ugh.
