DEVOTION # 60 “COMFORT DURING SUFFERING”

Happy Palm Sunday to all
Fishing Stagers and guests!
For all those who read and follow these devotions each week, I want to apologize for my absence last Sunday. Without going into a lot of detail, I want to tell everyone that I am going through a personal struggle right now that has turned out to be one of those very things we talked about two weeks ago. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, please go back to Devotion #59 - “WHY DOES GOD ALLOW
______? (bad things to happen to good people)
A new member, Tenmile (Vince), gave an excellent commentary on this question, which I included in that Devotion. One of the scriptures Vince referenced is very timely/appropriate, in regards to Christ’s suffering, with the Easter season upon us.

”And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.“
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I would like all of you, that will, to pray for Myrna (my wife of 41+ years) and I , during this difficult time for both of us. I know God is faithful, and am trusting Him to work His plan in, and throughout this time in our lives.
I read a daily devotional on Friday, by Pastor David Jeremiah, that just seems to be a great word from the Lord for a time such as this, and decided to copy it instead of posting a video sermon like I normally do.
I hope it encourages you all, as it has me. God bless you. 🙏🏻

MARCH 22
THE COMFORTER

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.
JOHN 14:16

When we are facing a crisis, one of the most comforting things we can hear a friend say is, “Don’t worry. I can walk you through the solution. I’ll be right over.” What would you call such a person? A friend? A guide? A counselor? A comforter? Or perhaps all of those terms would be appropriate.
All those terms can be applied to the Holy Spirit whom Jesus promised to send to His followers. In the Classic Edition Amplified Bible’s translation of John 14:16 we read: “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter
(Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strenghthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.” The Greek word for
“Comforter” is parakletos, one called alongside to help, comfort, strengthen, encourage, or counsel.
When a friend, or the Holy Spirit, does those things for us, the net result is comfort; we are comforted in our moment of need.
Because God is good, He gives us the gift of comfort. Let the Holy Spirit’s presence comfort you and guide you to the truth found in God’s Word (Romans 15:4-5).

”For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,“
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Randy, some of us have been in your shoes and well aware of what you are going through and only wish there was an answer to provide you with. Prayers never seem like enough when someone is in so much pain. However, they have been coming your way ever since I heard the sad news. Hopefully in the Lord's time they will be answered and that it brings the two of you comfort and reconciliation with a stronger bond of loving one another.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement
Bob. Prayers/God
is the BEST solution to anything we face. IMO
Friends come in a close “second”. 😉

I just got to your devotion for today Randy. God does offer comfort to us each day and all day for whatever challenges we are facing. Sometimes I mistake the silence of friends as unconcern. But silence from friends usually means prayers are being prayed. I thank God for those who have stood beside me in times of crisis and hardship. And with a friend like Plumbob, everyone on the Stage can know that they are not alone.
We do have a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
