We are in Sonora, CA for the week and we are looking for spots near by. We’d love to to go out for crawdads as well. Not fly fishing and no boat. New Mellones? Don Pedro? I’m thinking Pinecrest may still have snow and the pass may be closed.

Thank you!

You are fishing the Sierra don’t believe that Pinecrest would be an option for you Pinecrest is undated by snow.lodge store is closed! major snowfall coming in this weekend. Both into lower elevations and high elevations.! do not believe that Pinecrest Lake would be an option for you. Might still be snowed in based on this weekend storms.i think that the upper Sierra lakes are at least a month away. If you want to try lake Comanche

Upper mountain lakes won't be thawed before the end of May. Around the edges maybe, but no open water on the lakes till almost June, usually.

New Melones would be a good option for bank fishing.

Get on I-10 and drive east for 30 hours nonstop to the Atchafalaya Basin turn south at the levee and find
Breaux Bridge, kinda close to ProDrive Boats and Breaux Craft. Then follow your nose. Best I got for you. Good luck in the area you inquired about.

ANY and every lake you fish, I'd throw out a trap. Probly every one of them have crawdads in them.
You need structure, like big rocks/boulders or docks or something though.
