Turned down a striped bass boat fishing trip in the Raritan River today which caught a 41” striped bass while trolling a plug. The fish 🐟 finder showed the stripers stacked up. Went fishing 🎣 in 50 degree Back Brook this evening on a cloudy, cold day with a light south wind on the low tide before a flood. A beaver 🦫 was sleeping in my spot when I arrived. Took pictures and made a video of the widow of the road killed beaver. Caught and released 6 yellow perch, 6 bluegills and a pumpkinseed sunfish with Walmart red worm 🪱 halves. 2 great blue heron flew downstream. A belted kingfisher flew upstream. Gulls circled overhead very high. Air temp was only 40 degrees. Went home 🏡 early. https://youtube.com/shorts/Zv6-jjki_D8?si=Uc-oprVGlRdIIXr_

That’s pretty wild bands, never happened upon a sleeping beaver. I was out yesterday as well and caught a bunch of snot rockets throwing jigs with the intention of crappies but they’re not yet in chasing mode. I’m quite sure I would do better with a slip float and more stationary bait but I like to chuck and wind. Best of luck today as I’m sure you’ll be at it again.

Never saw one sleep out in the open like that. Isn't that odd?
Why'd you turn the boat trip down? I'd been on that in a second!!! Unless the charge is unreasonable.

She is in mourning after a motorist killed her mate. I’m too old for boats. I like to fish 🎣 for a few hours every evening instead of an all day marathon. I may try fishing in the sou’easter gale and flood after Palm Sunday Mass this afternoon.

I agree bands, that’s what she was doing. Sad when things like that happen to paired up wildlife. I understand the long days on the boat also, but am going on my first Striper trip next month down on the Sacramento River, California. Should be interesting.
