My 97 year old buddy

I haven’t been sleeping very good the last few days. I have mentioned before I have a 97 year old Vet friend of mine that I take him to his VA appointments. I usually take him a bacon or sausage bisquit on Sunday mornings while his wife goes to church. We’ll I wasn’t feeling to well so I called him and cancelled. I got a call from George this afternoon. How many of you have had a 97 year old and call to see how your doing. I thank him for his service quite often and Tell him thanks for being my friend. He told me a couple of years ago that I was his best friend. Iam blessed. Bobby from NC

My best partner is 20yrs older. Better shape than me. Eye site failing but do not whisper. He can hear a mouse fart.

I can totally relate.
My good friend 1Oldtimer, Jim Emmonds, was 97. Would have been 98 next month.
He was a dear Christian friend that I loved to fish with.
He just passed on Jan 16.
I also feel blessed to have known him and called him my friend.
Cherish your friend while you still have him here.

HBM, you have a true friend which is a very rare person these days. A person will have many people with whom we are aquatinted with but they are not the ones who call to check on you.
As for your sleep, there are a number of us here on the Stage who have physical issues that keep us up most nights. I just slept 3.5 hours straight and I count that as a regular night. Now to catnap the rest of the night.

Touching little story there HBM and a great reminder for us all to pay it forward by being kind to everyone.

For one day Lord willing, we may need that younger person to check in on us.

Well, I am close to 90 and will be around Thanksgiving this year. I shall look around to find some vets and friends to call and check on how they are doing. My last 'best friend' and classmate died on the last year's Christmas day! Not a real surprise because he had been battling Cancer for several years. You never know. My only brother in law and I were talking on a Friday, and he died in his sleep before Monday morning! So you will never know!

I believe my longevity is due to something the lord has for me to do, and whatever that is hasn't happened yet. Just Sayin...RJS

Just blessing others with your love and compassion is often enough for the Lord to keep somebody around longer.
