Just got home after a try for sturgeon. Haven’t been on the boat since last October due to hand surgery and this was our first opportunity due to weather, tides and work. Beautiful day and set anchor around 9 or so. Fished ghost and mud shrimp off rat rock. First hook up was a small leopard shark and soon after my buddy breaks off a good fish. After that we had to battle though crab, bait thieves for an hour or so. No sturgeon for the day but ended up with 3 decent stripers so not a total loss. Can’t wait for halibut to start. Might have to wait a little longer this year due to all the rain.

Still a nice day. Good looking stripers. Wow that bait tray must have cost you a fortune! I heard mud shrimp were ten bucks a dozen!

The mud shrimp were $2.00 a piece and frozen. We grabbed a few just to try. The ghost shrimp are about a buck a piece but were really good bait. We had 5 dozen. It gets costly when you are feeding crab for an hour or two.

Unfortunately that what it is in our area. I could go dig my own but by the time I drive there, work at it most the day it’s cheaper to buy them. And I buy from a small local shop. Trying to keep the locals in business. It seems most have disappeared around us.

Nice fish. Any day on the water is a good day. Hope the hand surgery went well. Where did you put in? I am driving from Sacramento next week for the first trip to the Bay this year.

We launch at Loch Lomond marina. It’s an expensive launch I think $40, we have an annual pass. If it’s not crowded it’s easy in easy out and good safe parking. A little more difficult if it’s busy. Where abouts on the bay do you fish and what are you targeting.

Nice strippers GF! Too bad no sturgeon, but I’m confident you’ll find them.
