Harold Ensley
"the Sportsman's friend"....watched him religiously every Saturday at 5pm on WIBW (CBS) out of Topeka, from the time my family got a TV in about 1957 until ...???...college days ???
Always a positive and informative show, whether fishing or hunting quail or pheasant, whatever. Great guy.
Does anyone remember the name or what he called his ford station wagon?
It was a Country Squire. I believe that was the name of his bird dog too.
Toward the end of most of his programs he would always give offer a little fishing advice: “Keep fishing simple.”
Gone fishin instead of just awishin
I remember Gadabout. Many in here won’t because he was born in 1896, passed in 1986. And yes, he hosted a number of TV shows on fishing.
I remember buggin my Dad to buy some of his top water lures for bass.
I must have been around 7 years old …
1966
Our family watched Harold Ensley every Sunday evening. That photo looks like home to me!
This guy always had great fishing tips!
That advice from Bill Dance is just as good as you could get from an old Chinese philosopher!
