My grandfather (pappy) had this knife many years past, gave it to my uncle John who then passed it on to me. Advertised as a floating fishing knife which it does, made of Japanese stainless steel which has lived up to it’s reputation for over 70 years. Sharpens quite easily and holds an edge quite well. Still use it from time to time for nostalgics sake.

Can't say that I've seen that one. I'm curious if its made with a cork handle for floatation..

Doug, the handle isn’t cork. Kinda looks like birch.

For a filet knife to still be around after 70 years is amazing. In the family makes very special.

Here’s the photo, don’t understand why it didn’t show up. I’ve been having a bit of trouble lately, possibly due to the age of my iPad.

Nice heirloom. I have one just like it but the sheath is shaped like a fish. It's stainless steel Japan also. Mine isn't sharp though. Will take it to get it sharpened and see if it holds. I picked this one up at a flea market.
Nice memory of your Pappy!!

I've seen lots of those knives and it vaguely seems like I, too, may have had one myself many years ago.

Exactly what I meant when I mentioned the 70 years. That's the way of most filet knives.
