Nice shirt Mark. I agree 100% , but since rookie and "has been" players already make more than even the highest ranking officer in the military, I'm afraid that ship has sailed long ago.

Well, that may be a bit extreme, but I understand your point.

I believe rookie minimum is 450k, and the Commander and Chief makes 400k.πŸ€”

Sorry Mark, I was wrong. In 2024:
Rookie minimum- $ 750,000.
1yr veteran minimum- $ 870,000.
POTUS- still $ 400,000.

My dad made $21 a month when he enlisted in 1937. In 1968 I was paid 87 a month. I don't know what what starting salary is now but I don't think it is enough for a family to live on. We should pay them at least a living wage. Sports figures are way overpaid. As are CEOS of large corporations. Elon Musk wanted $56 billion to head his company.

I don't get it either, but I'm a weirdo, as I don't watch sports.

Fred, my base pay in '71 was 143 dollars a month.
For those in Viet Nam, combat pay was a whopping 55 dollars a month extra. WOW ! Somethin to think about !
BUT... it was TAX EXEMPT though.

That's insane isn't it Steve. I have no idea what today's enlisted men and women are paid, but I'm sure it's still not enough. I wonder if it's still tax free?
