At an unexpected time in the afternoon my wife says, "Let's go fishing.". Well who in their right mind would argue with that?? So we hook up the boat and drive the hour there. The wind is stronger than the Weather Channel said, thus making it colder.
We had tried worms on death hooks, then switched to #5 flicker shad. The first pass through going from 22 ft of water to 9 ft of water and wham, a 26.75 inch lady slams it. I hope she produces a healthy spawn of fresh walleye.

That's a long haul from NH to NE. Some people call it the dead sea, but they are usually the ones who want their catches without the work. Sherman has rarely let us down if we put in the effort. But don't let the game warden catch you cheating.

My brother-in-law has a camp on the lake. I grew up in Omaha and I was always impressed how many fish are caught in April for the spawn. I hope they restrict the fishing during that time now. I miss walleye fishing out here. Champlain in Vermont has decent walleye. I do a lot of ocean fishing here as well as fishing on Winnipesauke in New Hampshire. These are cod from the short cod season we have. This was on a party boat, but I prefer my Grady of course - Max
