Hello stagers,
Here is a interesting bit of trivia about a very common house plant. It is a felony to harvest this plant in the wild. There are only about 35,000 remaining in its natural habitat. Poaching of this plant can land you up to 29 months in prison and heavy fines.
Which plant 🪴 is it?
Here's a hint.
You can NOT roll it, smoke it or put it in brownies.

Maybe a Sequoyah? I'm pretty sure redwoods are protected.

My first thought was Lady Slippers, but I think I will second on the Saguaro. Another possibility might be Bristlecone Pine.

By common house plant, I'm assuming you're saying common here in the U.S. I'll go with some kind of succulent---how about snake plant (a.k.a., mother-in-law tongue)?

We have a plant that I think only grows in parts of South Carolina and North Carolina that is illegal to pick. The Venus's flytrap plants

I thought of that one Chuck but you can harvest it on certain lands. Just not state owned lands and national park lands. I'm not sure about it being seasonal.

A lady back east had one that grew really good for her. She got the County newspaper and only watered it when they had rain there. Most people that tried to grow them in the east watered them so much the roots rotted and died.
