I plan on buying a new baitcast reel soon, and am between a Daiwa Tatula 100HS or a Bass Pro Pro Qualifier 2.0 . I plan on pairing with a Dobyns Fury MH for an all around rig and some frogging. Advice or any other reel suggestions? Id like to keep the reel $150 or less and I know Ican get the Pro Q on sale and the Tatula on ebay or amazon for cheaper.

Here's the various Tatula models. The 100 is $109, as is the 150. https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/search?q=tatula

Is there much of a difference between the 2? I see the 100 is lighter but as 11 lb drag and the 150 is heavier but 13.2 lb drag

Edit: I guess the 100 is also easier casting and preventing backlashes?

They have two different frames. The 100 is a tiny reel, the 150 is slightly larger.

Thats what I thought. Im gona go to a Bass Pro near me and feel them both and see which feels better in my hand. I only have 2 other baitcasters being the original Pro Qualifier and from what Ive heard a step up to the Tatula is awesome

Is the 200 worth getting? My friend highly suggested it cause that's what he uses for multi-purpose fishing. I wanna be able to have the most versatile setup without having to buy multiple reels (I have a pflueger president spinning setup rn)

The 200 is a big reel. Heavy duty everything. It's perfect for baits with a ton of torque. Swimbaits, deep cranks, and punching heavy weights. The 100 is just fine for multiple things, I have several that are on various jig, pitching, and cranking rods. Then there's the 150 which is a happy medium.

I see. So what would be best in terms of quality? I thought the 200 had the aluminum sideplate and a couple other things over both the 100 and 150. This would be my first and hopefully last (for at least 10+ yrs unless something breaks) was gonna pair it with the abu Garcia veritas Winn limited edition

They will all last forever. All aluminum frames, some are just smaller.

I'd go 100. Unless you're cranking a 10XD or punching heavy grass with 2oz weights, a Tatula 100 is plenty.

KastKing Spartacus or actually about any KastKing baitcasting or spinning reel is worth its weight in gold. Research them on YouTube and then decide before you buy a high dollar reel and are sorry afterwards. I know I will never buy another reel other than KastKing. Just like I don’t use any rod other than an Ugly Stick.

I bought a Tatula 100 this summer. So far it has been functionally flawless. I used it quite a bit in Canada a couple weeks ago. It mated perfectly with a 7ft falcon rod, felt really good. I used 15lb power pro line with a flurocarbon leader, about 6 ft. I used that combo almost exclusively with a 4 In Yozuri topwater that looked like a Pop R in bone color. It caught fish. I could not get the distance out of that reel that my older shimano chronoarch would get with the same line & lure. It cast a sufficient distance & I lived with it. The tatula might need a little more breaking in. I think anyone looking for a good reel should look at the tatula very hard. I firmly believe it's a keeper. Good luck & good fishing.
