I have spent most of my adult life fishing without a required fishing license. Though I have been lucky not to get caught most of the time, I have received a number of citations over the years. During a recent outing I was approached by a Fish and Game Officer who fortunately cut me a break and instead of giving me another ticket he let me go with a warning. Since I am now retired and would be fishing more often, I decided to spend the $81.00 and avoid any future citations. I went online and paid the fee and on the day my license came in the mail I received a second notice from the Department of Fish and Game informing me that my license would be suspended in 150 days for being delinquent on child support payments for my 35-year-old son. The notice said I could appeal this decision by requesting an appeal hearing with the Department of Child Support Services. Child support gains nothing by this action. They did this simply because they could. By the time I'm finished jumping through their hoops to clear this up the fishing license will be expired.

Sounds like Karma to me for not buying a license like you should have your whole adult life. If you have unpaid child support they should do everything they can to inconvenience you until it’s paid. Can’t understand a person who doesn’t support their own kids?! The fact that he’s 35 now doesn’t change the fact you didn’t pay when he was a child. I just don’t agree or follow any of your logic. So, the government is at fault for enforcing the laws, that you have been breaking all these years?????
Sounds like you should have been prosecuted many times over your adult (?) lifetime.

trb*mker, I fail to see where the waste is that you mention. If it is the purchasing of a licenses, far more goes into the purchase than paying guys to check on fishers to see if they bought a licenses. Same as having a licenses to drive. The funds are distributed to far more than paying cops to uphold a licenses requirement.

As far as paying child support for delinquent funds, count your blessings. You could be reading this from behind bars.

I certainly hope this person wasn't looking for sympathy. Absolutely came to the wrong place.

Oh heck don’t pay the back child support and don’t worry about the suspended license. You apparently got away with it for a long time
It’s just a roll of the dice

Since I doubt you'll make good on your 17 year old delinquent payments, they won't benefit right away.

Fortunately, they'll recover their money (back payments, penalties and interest) once they start taking it out of your social security payments.

Karma is a beach.

In NJ you must complete a child support form before you can buy a fishing 🎣 or hunting license 🪪.

So let me get this straight. You’re on here bragging about intentionally not buying a license for decades. Then you reveal that you willingly didn’t pay court order child support ??? You’re either a keyboard clown trying to see this post blow up, or just a freaking i***t. I don’t know you sir, but belong in jail
