Welcome.... I'v caught ling out of Fontenelle reservoir when I use to live in Pinedale...caught one out of Boysen Reservoir a few days ago. I know live outside of Worland wy. Used glow in the dark jigs and sucker meat while fishing at night. The burbot were illegally introduced to waters west of the continental divide a number of years ago. There is no limit on them. They are believed to have decimated the small mouth bass in Flaming gorge. Hope you catch a lot of them and good fishing.

Burbot may be found living in the chilly waters around the northern parts of the globe. In Idaho, they are only native to the Kootenai River system

Yes they were introduced illegally in the Green River drainage system. Check with Wy. Game and Fish dept.

Welcome to the stage SG. Lived on Lake Vivanaughton back in the early 80’s. We were working in Opal at the time. Last time I was there, I had driven over from Pocatello just to see what it looked like. I guess it’s a reservoir now because everything is gone. Here’s a few pictures of what it was like back then. These are the cabins we lived in. A little bit of history for the readers, JC Penny’s first store opened up in Kemmerer in 1902.

Did you get to fish the big ice fishing derby? Days before the derby the powers that be would catch and tag fish. Some of the fish were worth a lot of money if you could catch one. I never got to fish it but drove by it while working on a house farther up the reservoir road. A heard that the mosquitoes are as big as birds where you live! So you use the for bait? Good luck fishing.

No I didn’t. We were working 7 days a week back then. When we did get some time off for material delays or fatigue days, we would drive to Jackson Hole spend some time there and in Yellowstone. Yes the mosquitoes are rather large and can ruin a fishing trip if there’s no wind. As I recall, they were pretty feisty in Yellowstone too.

Skinny Girl, Did you happen to have known a Baptist pastor by the name of Larry Hultquist? He started a church in Kemmerer and was a very good friend of mine. We worked together in Denver Colorado back in 1970 before he became a preacher. He past away a few years ago. Stay safe and good fishing.
