Hey guys. Just as a background, I live in Central new Hampshire area and love fishing for bass. I've always used a little zebco setup that has been in the family for about 25-30 years, since my brother was a kid. This season, I finally bought a new setup. It was just a simple South bend RF2 rod and reel. It was only about $30 at my local Walmart. That being said, the rod is great. No issues but I feel the reel is already on its way out so I'm looking for a new one now that the season is slowing down a bit. I don't really know much about different brands and what to look for in a new reel. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot, but that number can differ from person to person. Haha. So I'm looking for suggestions from you guys. Anything would help. Thanks a lot!

Spinning reel

Shimano has a Catana FD for $39.99, and the Sedona and Sahara for $69.99 to 79.99. Not sure how much you're wanting to spend. I'd recommend finding a Shimano reel in your price range, everyone has their favorites but Shimano is generally accepted as top 3 quality reels.

Pflueger President is another well regarded spinning reel that is reasonably budget friendly.

Most “known” brand names for reels make good ones; Abu Garcia, Lew’s, Shimano, Diawa, Quantum. Pick your price range in any. I have 3 2500 size Shimanos I use for bass and I’ve never had any problems with them.

One kinda inexpensive reel I saw mentioned and ended up buying was the pfleuger president reel! I've fished with it for months and haven't felt a need to upgrade yet!

I have 3 shimano sedonas. Theses reels are smooth, cast well,& built like a tank! I’ve tried many other spinning reels less expensive and more expensive. Non have compared. I even use one for surf fishing and it’s held up perfectly for over 4 years! Best reel for the price hands down!🎣
The Trion is great. I got mine last year.
