Hello stagers,
This coming April I am going to be one of two shuttle drivers transporting employees to a event in Detroit Michigan.
What is the best form of communication between myself and the other driver?
I'll be the one footing the bill for this communication.
I don't like to use a cell phone while driving. I prefer to pick up something a just push a single button.
Range is usually pretty close, but could also be a few miles if separated.
Please give me your experience and recommendations.
For this trip the terrain should be rather flat, but there will be tall buildings and heavy traffic. Also the vehicles will be rented so I can't hardwire anything.
Looking forward to your input on this subject.

I would investigate other Frequencies.
Every C B is so much chatter you will go nuts with noise.

Thanks charlykilo,
I hadn't thought about chatter. The passengers will be most likely sleeping.

You can pick up an inexpensive pair of radios, with a hands free earpiece/microphone like these. BPS/Cabelas has a bunch to choose from. I have no personal experience with them, but have considered trying them to use on the water.

I have used two-way radios while traveling and fishing, with good results.

I agree with Fred. They should work fine for your purpose.

My wife and I used a similar set for communication while riding our motorcycles. They worked great.
Be careful, Michigan has a "Hands free" law concerning the use of cell phones. I'm sure an officer would consider 2 way radios in violation, Just a warning. BTW, what is the big event? I live in SE Michigan

Absolutely, we used those for a trip down and back to FL. They work fine!

Just a clarification, Clappy; most come with a hands-free mic and earphones.
I used Walkie Talkie for communication with grandchildren out on the lake or in the woods. They worked great and are even more less expensive now than when I got mine 20 yrs ago. You can get a couple on Amazon and try them out in your vehicles and check distances to insure it's what you need. If not return them, no cost.
