I tried fishing off the rugged rocky coast of st micheal azores. Very rocky and the surf was very violent. I lost 5 bottom rigs in five casts.the sinkers got hung up in rocks and there sharp edges would cut the line. After two hours of frustration i began to understand why i kept seeing large floats or bobbers in the fishing shops . They use them to dangle the
weighted line and bait just above the rocky bottom. I can't wait to try it next time I go on vacation there.

Try using round stones..put a drop of thick super glue gel on the stone and apply a swivel to tie it on the line using a smaller test line so if it does get hung just breaks off then tie on another stone..works great for me since I fish the Savanah river. I have tried all kinds of sinkers and all get hung at one time or the other...cost is my concern and stones are very cheep.
