Not bad WVM! Let me guess, two salmon eggs(maybe a lump of Gulp?) on a #4 or 6 baitholder Eagle Claw snell, two split shots 15 inches up from the snell?? Or a crawler on same rig? Am I close? That's what I used for them in the limestone streams of Wyoming cty when growing up in McDowell cty(near Welch) back in the early to mid '60's! Later on with the advent of spinner lure technology, we used Panther Martins and CP Swings! Stocked rainbow, and golden trout, killers!

A two hook rig with two split shot corn yellow power bait tipped with a mealworm.

I was close! Those things have worked forever! Forgot to say those locations were in southern West"By God"Virginia. Haven't fished there in maybe 50 years! Do they still stock the goldens? They had just developed that "color"(quite by accident, as I recall), certain breeding combinations threw some golden trout in each hatch.

In April the state has their annual gold rush stocking. They stock numerous lakes and streams with all gold trout. They tag several trout and if you catch one they give prizes a couple for a 3 night stay in the greenbrier.

WOW! That's really something! I've been out of the mainstream for so long, I've completely missed out on things of this magnitude/potential consequence! I've always said they should push the "TOURISM" aspect more to give the state's economy a big boost!("ATV Heaven" can only go so far!) Things like this could go a long way to help support this goal. "How many people outside of WVa can say they've caught a "Golden Trout"-not many but I know they would love the opportunity!? I hope they have promoted this big time but again, I have never heard abt this before. Here in NE Ohio, we have some of the best Lake Erie tribitary "steelhead" trout fishing in the country. This has been huge in generating fishing tourism for those who want to experience this firsthand! Not to mention we have the "Walleye Capital of the World" in our back yards, also Greatly boosting the economy of Ohio. Hope I haven't highjacked your thread, Mike but your trip to the lake in Feb. has boosted me up onto a soapbox!

They stock golden, lightning, tiger and rainbow trout in Wallace and other lakes around CLE. Last sticking at Wallace had a 10lb tiger that a guy pulled through the ice.

Welcome to the stage.

Quite a mixture. Didn't know they put goldens in the Metro Park lakes. Usually if fishing that area, I'd be in Rocky River or the Chagrin after steelies.

You seem to live close to me. I live in Lakewood now but grew up on the east side of CLE and moved out to Perry (nuke plant) in middle school. Before kids a chased steelheads a lot. Did really well in the Chagrin. Now a days I mostly fish perch and walleye out of Edgewater.
