Brand new here. Hoping to maybe make some friends around the topic we all love so much, fishing.

I don’t have many friends, mainly do health issues stemming from my service days but I do love to fish. Haven’t been able to fish as much as I’d like in the past. But that’s all about to change.

I had tried kayak fishing but that proved too much work. So, I just bought a 2007 Skeeter ZX200 Yamaha HDMI V Max. Doing a little upkeep work on it now before hitting the water.

The one place I’ve always found peace is out on the water. Even as young boy I’d take the row bout out for the evening of fishing. I’d always come back with a stringer full which would annoy our neighbor who would fish from his dock and watch me off shore.

The fondest memories I have is of fishing. Learning how, doing and teaching younger people. I’m looking forward to many new fishing stories believable ones and… the legends!!

Big bass (10#+) here in Texas has been very active in West Tx. A lake called O.H. Ivey. Up to 17#+ in '23. 2 share a lunkers caught in Jan there, one over 13 and one over 14.

Our big bass population is not as prolific as it has been in previous years. Not sure why, except the Sabine River Authority SRA sprayed the shorelines for invasive grasses and weeds and that killed out the good grass as well.

Fork has a slot limit of 16" to 24", fish must be immediately returned to the water. I've caught several 8+# fish that were 23 3/4" in length. Biggest for me came 2 in one day here, had a 9.6 and 9.2 and both were right at the slot. If I were fishing a tournament when these were caught, I would have been hesitant in trying to weigh them. They were that close on the 24" mark.

Many 4 to 7# fish are caught, and these Florida Strain Bass really put up a fight.

Crappie will be kicking butt here in about a week or 2. Caught over 300 slabs off my boat house last year. Grandkids had a ball. Still eating crappie pretty often.

I use to fish Deep Creek Lake in western MD.
Last time there they'd killed all vegetation around the docks.
Said it wouldn't hurt fish.
Maybe not but nobody found any bass under the dock.
No grass no bait fish no bass.
👍
