Does anyone know of a boat cover that is truly waterproof? The cover that came with the boat (Crestliner) doesn't keep the rain out and the boat is parked outside.
Thanks for your help.

Back when I had my boat I started just buyin a tarp from Harbor Freight for 25 to 30 bucks and would bungie it down. I usually got a 12X20 or so . Found it to be water proof and cheap.

I keep mine sprayed with water proofing spray I buy from any big box store or in my case I buy it at Cabela's with my wife's discount. But the only time my boat isn't garaged is when we are on the trip. A tarp would be my choice too if it was parked outside all the time.
Cabelas sells covers for storage by size and style of the boat. They're water resistant but not waterproof. For winter storage a add a medium duty tarp, a step up from the blue tarps. And bungie it tight. Works well for longterm

I do the exact same thing Jimmy does. I’ve also added a PVC frame to support the tarp that makes the water shed off quickly with no place to accumulate.

Try to find a swimming pool cover that can be cut to fit, add grommets for bungee/rope. Not real pretty, but works.

Yep. I use some local hoops to hold up the covers, but I should put braces between them too

I use one of those inexpensive canopies you can get at Harbor Freight to park my boat under with its cover on. This keeps most of the rain and snow off the boat cover. The canopy I got is a 10X20 foot one. I've had it for about 15 years now, still works well.

There are several businesses in my area who make custom fit 100 percent waterproof boat covers. They are not cheap, but worth it in my option especially if your boat is stored outside in heavy weather winter states. I’ve seen many boats that have custom made waterproof covers, especially boats that are docked year round in harbors. You get what you pay for. To me plastic tarps as hard as you’ve tried never protect your boat from the elements! Yeah they are cheap They may stop a good percentage of the rain but 90% of the time it’s the moisture effect that does the most damage. Just my opinion!

Around here. I’ve never seen a custom made cover that held up to winters. They all end up shredded. I worked in this field for 5 years. They shrink wrap all the boats that sit outside at the marinas around here and that stays intact but those are notorious for creating moisture issues within them. Only sure bet is to get it out of the weather entirely. With the cover then the tarp my boat stays bone dry but it’s small and I know the correct way to tarp it so it stays on properly.

I also didn't have problems with my tarp.
HOWEVER, if you go too long without usin your boat durin the winter you're gonna have a problem with the moisture buildup no matter how you have it covered. That's the only time it was a problem for me.
As long as I used the boat once or twice a week, it kept things aired and dried out.
But if you let it sit unused for 2 or 3 weeks or longer and it's been rainin then cold then sunny and then repeat you're gonna have moisture build up no matter how you have it covered.

That’s why I’m fortunate to garage my boat! You’re in Cleavland. Different ball game for me! Shredded in the wind! Must be ugly there in winter!
I bought a harbor freight heavy duty one and it leaked after 3 months and was trash after 6 months .currently I'm looking for a 1200 denier cover that's supposed to be water proof and may check out my.sealskin.com

Wow, I've never had one go bad after only 3 months.
My boat use to sit out in a lot under the elements and I never had one of their tarps go bad after only 3 months. I easily got close to a year or more out of every tarp I got from Harbor Freight. Sorry you had a bad experience.
