New to this forum… has anyone been on lake Champlain recently ice fishing for Trout? What location or town would be best to find some productive ice near shore on the VT side / Burlington? I typically use smelt , What do you like? LMK going next weekend with my nephew. Thanks in advance and Tight lines!

Never been to Lake Champlain but was once stationed (1966) on USS Lake Champlain CVS 39.

I fish champlain in open water for salmon and lakers with great success but I don't ice fish there cause I don't trust the ice and especially this year the way we have had the warm weather, i'm sure there are other anglers over that way can give you good information on ice conditions
