I am in Waynesville GA. (Brantley co.) We are looking to find a good place to bank fish. When i say "good place" i mean where you can actually catch a fish! lol. We go to places in Brunswick, Darien, Jesup and Screven but seldom catch a fish big enough to get excited about. I know there has to be places but we can't seem to find them. Please help. My husband is to the point of giving up fishing ( i will never give up).

Both. i think the areas that we know about are where everyone bank fishes and are just fished out. I know there has to be some out of the way places but the people that know about them aren't telling (i almost don't blame them)lol.

I mostly fish salt. Did fish the Satilla River in Woodbine off my BIL's dock but that was 35 years ago.

We fish the Satilla in a couple places mostly at the Ada Strickland boat ramp in Atkinson. Right now we can't get to it because of flooding.

Never knew the Satilla went that far. Learning every day on this site.

The Satilla river is around 200miles long. It starts in Ben Hill county and it ends in Camden County. We fish in the Satilla and the Little Satilla. At least we do when everything isn't flooded. lol

I own to boats. One 17 CC and a 23 CC with twin 150 yamahas. Still love bank fishing though.

I grew up cane pole fishing off the banks with my Granny and i still love it although these days i use a rod and reel.I am actually afraid of water (and can't swim) so have never wanted a boat, however if it means catching a good fish i am about willing to get in one- as long as we don't get to far out in the river and i take an antianxiety tablet first.

Caught these fishing off the bank at the tail race canal. There were just two of us fishing. 42 cats

I can't tell from photo. What was the average length? Did you use live bait? I am about as far from you as one can get in the U.S, lower 48, but I am always curious. Thanks for sharing you catch. It looks like fun. There is something about fishing tail race water that just produces fish. I once fished a tailrace in central Florida with shad caught on the site. They were outstanding bait for blue cat in the same spot. I also fished a tail race successfully for salmon in Alaska, and a tail race for stripers in Central California.
If I were to check out a new area, I would see if there is a tail race in that area. They are definitely fish magnets. Thanks again for your input.

3 to 8 Bapa. Not sure if I could find this spot again. Someone took me there. I have boat fished for shad a few times.
