Just a reminder here, it is illegal to target stripers in creeks rivers and back bays until March 1st. You can still target them in the ocean from the beaches and boats out to 3miles line, however your chances of catching any now are very slim.

If you’re targeting them you can get a ticket. It doesn’t matter if you’ve kept any. The fine is for attempting to catch striped bass. Keeping a striped bass is another ticket/fine. If you accidentally catch one on a perch rig and quickly release it you’ll be ok. If you’re fishing with a big circle hook and bait or with a big top water plug they know you aren’t targeting perch. Just trying to help you out here, nobody needs to pay a fine if it can be avoided.
