Visiting my grandson in SoCal want to take him out. Saltwater fishing would be cool to chase down some Bonita and yellowtail currently in the Newport Beach area.

Was on a tuna charter trip once, we ran into a pod of bonita and the crew broke out fresh water bass gear for us. What a blast catching bonita on this tackle ! Those little guys are wicked fast and strong, just like their big brother tunas....Good Luck 🍀 on your outing & Tight Lines.

Caught Bonita at Radondo with some friends. All I had was ultra light trout gear. What a blast!

Jeff, I'll bet your drag was screaming ! It'd take a pretty big trout to match the pressure ya felt. Speed, forget about it. No way can any trout generate that....

I’ve caught 12lb trout on 2lb test. Not really the same but the fight was great.

I’ve been using 2lb test for years. Think about it, how big are the trout/fish you usually catch? Just set your drag.
