Good morning all.
Cassie came home from the hospital yesterday. No rehab just straight home. Now I'm the nurse. Maybe rehab for awhile would have been better but after 8 weeks she wanted to come home. This is overwhelming. There are a bunch of meds to keep on schedule and I have to hang the IV TPN(nutrition) and connect to her PICC line. That runs for 10 hours. Change the dressing and colostomy and help her get around. It will fall in line and others have it much worse.
I don't know how I'm going to go to work and do all this? Just a lot dropped on us at once and a little un nerving. Between sore and being frtightened she was a mess yesterday.

We just said a prayer for you and Cassie, and though you don't know us, God knows you two, and His grace is giving you the strength to walk through this tough walk. I'm sure that all of your friends here on FS and there with you are continuing to pray for you and a specific prayer I pray is for you to have someone to stand there with you, beside you, helping you.

Glad to hear that Cassie's out of the hospital Ed, although I wonder why they bypassed the rehabilitation visit. Look into getting some homecare help, or a visiting nurse. You should also be able to get some family leave time from work. Good luck my friend, you can handle this. Praying for you both.

That’s great news, Ed. It’s definitely going to be overwhelming. And it’s going to be overwhelmingly for a while. It’s a whole different lifestyle, for the both of you. It’s going to be a tough go for a while but with practice and patience you’ll both figure it out. It’s just a matter of adjusting and adapting to your new routine. Just keep at it, understand what needs to be done. You guys will do just fine. Try to keep a handle on your frustrations. And as Fred recommended. Get some home care or visiting nurse assistance to help. You’ve got this, buddy…🐟on

That's great news Ed.
As others have mentioned, look into homemade help or visiting nurses, they made a world of difference when my wife was dying of cancer. I don't know how I would have made it through that without them.

Talk to the patient advocate at the hospital, this is the situation that they are supposed to help with.

Glad to hear she got home Ed, it takes time for to adjust ,but in a couple day you’ll get the hang of it,
Believe me been there and done that it definitely takes patience. You should be able to get a health nurse to come and help with at least two times a week
Would help a lot to relieve some of the stress for you and her.
Sending positive prayers for you and Cassie 🙏🙏🙏

We have a home health nurse coming. It is to check in on her but more to teach us how to do these things ourselves. There will also be in home PT.

Have you looked into someone to come in and give you some helpful tips on how to accomplish all the extra things you have to do? There is a lot of help available to get you started.

We have home health nursing. They stop in, answer questions, teach us how to do things but then they leave and we're on our own. We'll get this. Only about 28 hours into this.
