Went out late this morning and ran three rabbits in three hrs. Dogs did good and we enjoyed them running the rabbits. New spot to us and it was so thick we should of left the guns in the truck 🤪. Went out a few times last week and two of my buddy's had two pups take off on a deer. That was two hrs of looking for dogs. Last Friday we ran 5 an shot at 2, missed them both thick there also. Seems the only places we see rabbits it's so thick the raptors, bobcats and coyotes can't get the rabbits. Going out again tomorrow hopefully we'll get a few 🤪. Nothing better then listening to Beagle hounds after a rabbit

Jimmy, I remember when I was just a kid when we would go up to Kentucky on vacation and my grandpa would tell me about rabbit hunting when it snowed..I already wanted to experience tracking them in the snow but never had the opportunity 🥴 reading your post about it kinda reminds me of the story's I was told way back when, really enjoy reading about your hunts👍👍 keep them coming 😂. Chuck
When I was young and my boys were little I would take them rabbit hunting. They didn't have to be quite for rabbit hunting. Plus they were my "dogs". I would bring home a mess of rabbits and cook them up, one way or another, and we would make a meal of them. Later I did get a dog and I would take it pheasant hunting and would still take a rabbit also if one got in the way of my bullet. Years later when my body wouldn't let me hunt anymore my wife tells me that she is glad she doesn't have to choke down rabbit or pheasant anymore. And there goes another "yes dear."

Still do over here. Love to sit back and listen.
Man I miss that kinda fun. Haven’t rabbit hunted since high school my baseball coaches had dogs and we hunted property’s all over the little town I lived in. Coach G could skin a rabbit in 5 seconds.

J, back when I was around 23 years old I got into raising rabbit for meat and started out with 8 doe's and a buck sold all of the rabbits I could raise, so I increased to 20 doe's had them sold before I had them😂 at one point I had little over 100 breeder's and had a contract for all the rabbits I could have weighing around 5-7 pounds at 75¢ a pound live, I did that for over a year and even with automatic watering system it got to be taking up all my time ( fishing and hunting) so I sold them to a friend that got even bigger into it and made a living at it for years..
Rabbit hunters in the USA die from tularemia every year.

Yea you have to be careful when skinning a rabbit. But hey you can get that from mice 😏

Jimmy, way back when we did hunt rabbits down here the old saying was only eat them in the months that had an R in them, guess they were the colder ones!!!! Never understood that😂

Grew up in the oil fields of SE NM and West Texas. Hunt rabbits often. Buddies and I would hunt at least 1 day of the weekend. Hunted with 22 pistols. Had to head shoot the rabbit so as to not damage the meat
30 to 50 rabbits each time we hunted.
Cleaned and skinned the rabbits.
Many of my friends the same.
Never heard of anyone getting the virus.
Sunday dinner was rabbit and dumplings.
What memories we made while hunting.
