I know they are fiberglass, but wanted to know if they were still fishable and if they have any high value.

That first one is a vintage St Croix, it's hard to tell condition in the pic but considering it's fiberglass, it's age and the fact it has sentimental value I'd hang it up for a display if I were you. You can buy a similar rod for $40 bucks or so but it's really cool, id actually love to have one similar for my display collection in my shop.

If you have your mind set on using it I'd definitely check for stress fractures, splits or any kind of damage first. Also check the eyes and butt to make sure all that is good to go.

Dumb question, but how do I notice stress fractures? Is that just a break?

Here are two pictures of a couple dents. There are a few more in it. These are all close to the reel seat.

Honestly only bust em out for special occasions. They're really awesome keepsakes.

I have one of my grandfathers old custom bamboo fly rods from a local custom shop in Gardena, it hangs on the wall in my garage along with photos of us fishing. Same with one of my Dads old fly rods. And then my first fly rod, and each of my kids will get their firsts hung up when they get upgraded along with some awesome action shots.

Their value as family heirlooms far exceeds their monetary value. Cherish them and display them proudly.

Everyone is saying hang it up on the wall. I'm a Grandfather and I would love
to see my grandchildren using my stuff and enjoying it. Take those rods out
and go fishing with them. If they break, so be it. Your Grandfather won't mind.

Signed,
A Grandfather

Just buy a new one that`s better and save really old collectables! Can not see any reason to fire grandpas double barrel shotgun! Sits proudly next to many better guns, why even get it rusty and hurt my shoulder?

I do let the Grandsons shoot clays with 2 single shots my Dad owned.

For various reasons.
