Hello everyone I'm new to fishing piers, I'm from Modesto area. I'd like to start fishing the Emeryville Pier but have no clue what fish is ok to keep and what bait to use. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you all and can't wait to get out there fishing again

You don’t need a license to fish on public piers in CA. Get a state fishing reg booklet to see what different fish with minimum sizes for the different fishes. I’d use squid and cut mackerel and clams. Also check with a local bait and tackle shop to see what works best there.

Most fishing in bays will have a sign about amounts of fish to eat regarding pollution in the bay, at least in our bays in San Diego. Halibut is usually the safest because they come in and out the ocean. Good luck!!
