…..WARNING

I’ll tell you what.. it would be nice to have folks to talk to who might could simply fill me in on general information from what they or the great people fishin Lake Martin have been seein out there!

Tell me if the fish are bitin, how deep they bitin, what you catchin, what color jig, what rig/set-up you been on, etc… Holler at me and maybe we can rally some folks up on just general information dialogue. This kind of stuff is good to know.

I used to fish religiously, but I have a baby and a toddler. When I take my boy out, it’d be nice to have somebody to tell me what’s up with the water just so we have a chance a putting a fish or two in the boat. Thank all y’all and advance, be good, or be good at it!

You did come to a good place for info, we care and we share. Just have to wade through the jokes and jabs that make this a very unique group. I know we have folks in Alabama who would love to help you out. .most of us hAve already been down the raising kids route and realize how hard it is to get good quality time on a lake.

You might get more info for a specific body of water on a local fish report sight. Most areas have them. You can also usually get info at the local bait shop or tackle store. People like to share their adventures and successes. They often do that with the fishing gear salesmen. It is funny about stores. Private owners want to sell tackle, but they also live on return customers, so they usually provide solid info. It makes no difference to them if you buy gear (a) or gear (b) as long as you come back and buy more. If what they sell works, you are likely to come back. Big box stores employees don't really care if you buy anything. They are there because it is a job, so why not work in an area of interest. They like to talk fishing and hear constant input on what is happening. They have no reason to send you in the wrong direction. Keep in mind that a lot of stores also post fishing reports in the store. Just be sure the posts are current rather than what was happening last month. Good luck.

Ok, so here’s my pattern lately since water on lake Martin has been in the mid to low 50’s for bass, crappie, strippers
30-45’, slow roll a approx 2.5 swim bait, transparent with blue/green hues or similar, on a vertical tie jig head in approx 1/4-5/16 oz weight on say 8# floro, spinning set up or ultra light casting( I use) on main or secondary points with fairly aggressive drop offs from say 15’ to 45’-50’
Let hit bottom on long cast from deep to shallower, slow roll stopping often to let hit bottom again, can jig it as well back to boat
Outside bends also along channels producing good too
Good luck
