I just saw it again. I do not understand. Why would you consider sailcats a skunk. They are a fun fish to catch. When plentiful, they are a step up in fight and size from bluegill and a good introduction to saltwater and tidal fishing for youngsters. (assuming you fish shallow water and light weights). They make a good fish for youngsters to learn catch and release (for those of you who don't eat cats) as well as how to use the rod instead of the reel to land fish. On top of that, they are cool looking.

Thanks, but not my fish photo. I stole it to show what a sailcat is. I have not been to Florida for years, but I remember well catching the sailcats on my visits to Florida. I will admit, I love freshwater catfishing so maybe I am bias.

lol sorry if I offended you I just meant it wasn’t what we were going for and i enjoy catfish to just not them slimy varmits and that’s why I hooked them down there was to let a 5 year old reel them in because we weren’t getting anything good they’re as fun to catch as anything else of the size until you have to handle them and try not to get poked they hurt a little worse than the other ones

No problem. I don't get offended easy. I use a towel to handle them. Like pike, and rock sole, I except the slime as just part of fishing for fun fish to catch and eat with the constant possibility of a really big fish. I also hunt deer, rabbits and birds even though they have ticks and fleas. Though I sometimes target a specific species of fish, I always enjoy an unexpected bite with an occasional change of the target. Keep enjoying. That is what it is about.
