Newbie planning on braving the cold on Kitsap Lake for winter trout soon. Any advice welcome, bait, lures, line weight, depth, time of day, good spots. . .? I’ll be in my kayak or small Jon boat if any family is foolish enough to venture out with me. Thanks, Rob

If you fish for trout during the winter, I would say, stick to your same methods. I don't fish for trout, but, I would assume that what you do in other places, you should have a chance here also. Mason Lake perch are biting, though. Make sure you have a good fish finder to locate them. Crappie magnate jig bodies tipped with a small piece of worm seems to work. Chartruese color.

I agree. Anything yellow or light for perch. But I'd go black or red for trout (red actually is black at depth since red wave lengths don't travel far).

I'm guessing less than 30' for either since they don't need to go deep for cold water.

WDFW site says they stocked it in Nov and Dec with 217 0.75 fpp and 376 0.29 fpp Trout. I have had luck by Military park and trolling a Pink Wicked lure with green power bait close to bottom, slow, just enough so you see your pole "twiching". Good luck!
