Years ago I had a good blood bait recipe for catfish. But, I've lost it and can't seem to remember all the details. It must be the 79 years working on me. Can a few of you give a way your secret recipes. I promise not to let anyone have it. So, it's safe with me.

I don’t have a recipe other than back in the 60s I used cut mackerel soaked in Bowkers stink bait for cats.
I have never use blood bait. The only cats I have consistently targeted are channel cats. I have done well with supermarket raw shrimp, cut herring and chicken liver. I no longer use liver as it is messy. When traveling to different places exploring, I just use the shrimp as it id easy to put on the hook and the least messy. A few shrimp in a few plastic bags, a clean rag, in a sixpack cooler with cold drinks and a sandwich and I am good for a day of hopping around. The one time I did fish for blues, I used live shad I caught with a throw net in Florida. The live bait worked awesome. I also caught some large cats fishing for whatever bit with live minnows in Shasta. I can't help with stink bait recipes because I see no reason to make catfishing messy. They are a great fish, a good fighting fish, a carnivorous, opportunity feeder that taste great if cleaned and preserved properly. They should be classified as a sport fish. Good luck with your search. If I were to go back to blood bait, I would just try blending fresh chicken liver to a liquid in a blender. I would then add flour and a teaspoon of salt. The liver blend is used in place of water to make dough. The more you work the dough, the tougher it gets. A small treble wired catfish hook and you are good to go. Down side is that it still needs refrigeration.
As you can see, bapa, by the response, blood bait recipes are kept tightly guarded if they're good. But, you would think as many stagers as there are someone would cut the secret up with you. A good blood bait recipe is like "Love Potion #9".

I guess I have never found that "#9" potiant for cats. That being said, please let me know if you have any luck retrieving it. I am always open to fishing knowledge. Good Luck. Quick question? did you use it for other than channel cats?
Bapa, honestly, I don't know how long the potion lasts. The only time I ever used it was the first date with Linda. I only put a little behind my left ear. That girl has been on me like a cat on a June bug for 59 years. If I had of rubbed it all over, it would have been like the cat backing into the fan......Disaster!
