New to the Mountains. Fished a lot in Saltwater. Redfish , Seatrout. Tarpon and Jacks. Never have done any fly fishing for trout or any freshwater fishing for large and smallmouth bass or Muskie or any other freshwater fish. Trying to learn area no boat access at the moment, so looking for productive areas for fly, spinning and bait casting for local species
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Welcome aboard Bob. Wife is from Hendersonville and I fish up there every so often for catfish. Right above you in Fletcher there's a lake that rents boats and has a fishing pier. They do have a 6 fish limit on channel cats. Look it up. Might be a place to start. Lake Julian park. I'll be there in a week or to an will be trying for some winter time fishing

We moved to Fletcher in January and haven’t been out fishing yet. I have been thinking about Lake Julian and Lake Lure recently and just need to get out there and do it.

Thanks. It is pretty cold here right now, so this may not be the optimal time.

Yes it is going to be cold. The wife and her sister are going to be cleaning out there motheres house and I'm going to find something to do. Will go to the Loft for a few beers in the afternoon. They are closing at the end of the month so I'd like to get there a few times before they close.

Davidson River and tributaries near Brevard are excellent for year round trout fishing, as well as N. Mills River. Also, French Broad River is near Hendersonville and has multiple species, although I have never fished it. Good luck. That's a great area for fly fishing - many other places in western NC in addition to the ones I mentioned.
