Welcome to the stage, I don't know much about crappie fishing but catfishing is great

Google Texas Parks and Wildlife, click on the fishing icon and then the area where Lake Livingston is; I think the Piney Woods region. Scroll to look for your lake.

Also check local bait shops or hire a guide.

I moved from California 2 and a 1/2 years ago and moved by Lake Palestine, South of Tyler. What a difference I'm used to being 20 feet from the bank and in 30 or 40 feet of water. Here you can be 200 yd from the bank and your motors. Draggeding the bottom whole different story. I listen to. 9.75 FM for fishing reports on Saturday mornings. They say bass. Er and 25 to 35 feet a water For catfish
I'd like to find moving water.

. Good, i'd like to find moving water or a Creek. Where does water running in for catfish crappy I won't have caught one since I've been here. But I haven't fish for them.
