I just went out to hear what was causing a ruckus on my roof. Hundreds of blackbirds flying all around the neighborhood in huge waves. Spectacular. Wonder what's causing it. All the kids out on the street watching. Me too!!!

Yup, that was it. All around my house for about an hour before my neighbor started his motorcycle and scared them off. Thought maybe they just needed a place to rest for awhile and my oak is still dropping tons of tiny acorns. Last year they were much bigger but this year many more and much smaller. Interesting.

We've had them by the hundreds here but never seen them murmuration. Just cover the yard and trees.

I don’t know if they are crows or ravens.
View of the front yard.

Around here I've seen different species of birds gather to fly south. Usually different times for different species. Kind of cool watching them flock together.

Google defines the difference between the birds. The pic shows crows. There is another species of migrating blackbird named Grackles. Real pests. I live in Pa. and these things roost in my neighbors trees. Easy to identify by their white or yellow eyes. They come in spring and raise a batch of young, they bathe in my pool and poo everywhere. A 2 month ordeal. Another intelligent bird, very vocal. Wish they were edible.
