Couldn’t ask for a better day of crabbing off the Marin coast. 12/12
Met up with JK (Jim) and Nook (Hal) at the Berkeley Marina at 6:30 am. Got the boat fueled and the bait prepped and headed out at 7:20am. Decided to try my “honey hole” since on the last trip in deeper water wasn’t that good. Seas were 2’ swell at 10 seconds and 1’ wind waves, overcast and very little wind. Got to the “honey hole” and had the first string set by 8:20 am. Had 15 keepers at the end of the first pull with some very large gauge busters. Needless to say we reset had a total of 34 keepers, culled down the “just barelys” and were headed in after our second pull and 2 hours after we had our first string set, 10:20 am. It was great crabbing, great sea conditions and nice large crab, all were very pleased!
Part of the catch
Rest of the catch
Jim and I with a pot of 4-5 keepers
One of the biggest I’ve ever caught
Another bigun!
A table full of cleaned crab

A very good day. The average size today makes storing the fresh cooked crab difficult. Nice problem to have

Thanks Fred! I was truly surprised (and thankful) at the abundance and size at the “honey hole” based on the last few outings at that spot.

Well, to be precise, I screwed up piloting and got us off the proposed line, and lucky for me we did well

Glad you had such a nice day with 2 run limits and no misadventures!
Did you need your radar this morning -- we were socked in heavy.

Not bad Hal, I wish my screw ups paid off like that.
