I drove by glassy Tomales Bay yesterday and was wondering about fishing the bay. Is it safe to fish from an 12 ft inflatable raft with electric motor? What can you catch and what time of year is best? Are there any Tomales Bay fisherman out there?

You would have to pick the day, but you could do it.
A lot of yak fishermen and small boats do.
Lots of crab and Halibut caught during their season.
Overall you can catch halibut there along with bat rays. If you catch an Angel Shark, keep your fingers away from the teeth.

It's been many years but we used to fish there quite a bit. On a nice day you should be ok with your 12 footer.
We have caught Halibut, crabs, Bat Rays and a bunch of Leopard Sharks. We would target Leopard Sharks down near
Inverness on an out going tide and almost always did well.
Have not fished there in 25 years so don't know how it is now. It's a beautiful area so give it a try you won't
be disappointed. Good Luck!
