When you get away from the big city, you are in rural areas. These areas are very conservative in thought and daily life. The more rural you are the more grassroot the individuals are. Big city life is usually inhabited more by the so called intellectual elite, a product of our higher ed programs. The rural areas are predominately people who work with their hands and are sk**led workers. There IMO is the difference in the possibility of living somewhat in Mayberry.
