Hello Dawgpound, next to walleye fishing comes crappie fishing for us here in Nebraska. Most people use jigs for crappie fishing and we do too in the late fall and early spring. But most of the time we use crank baits on the theory that bigger fish eat bigger baits. And that way we can walleye and crappie fish at the same time. But then again, we are not the norm. Happy fishing!

With the exception of the two biggest crappie I ever caught (caught on irresistible dry fly in December on Lake Nascimentos, CA.) I also use plugs, 3.5" swim baits or small spinnerbaits for big crappie. I usually find the schools when bass fishing.
