Hi all! Up early finishing up a Medicare Prescription part D application. Still hassling over the new/old Prius as well.
Forced to settle with Travelers after they refused to continue to pay storage at the auto body shop. Got them up to $10,627 from $9,627. Now the Infinity dealer is trying to add extra charges to the agreed price of $17,000 for the new, gray one. They're saying $798 documentation fee and $650 used car fee. Preposterous!!! The salesman PROMISED me, said it three times, there will be no additional dealer fees. I am SO sick of this entire process, literally, sick to my stomach.
Now the haggle over warranty: Dealer wants to sell me an Infinity/Nissan bumper to bumper but Toyota is saying they won't honor it and is offering one of their own since this car was bought and serviced [all but the last 2,000 miles] at my dealer where I bought and had my car serviced. Infinity is calling Toyota a liar and thief saying they just want the sale. When I try to get the salesman from Toyota, he's out sick with Covid.
My head is spinning and you guys are it for discussion. My best friend is on a boat somewhere around Papua New Guinea and unavailable. Hutch was freaking out over too much work, etc. So...sorry for what may seem like whining to you but really is there is no one else to talk to about this and I am not sure what is the best recourse.

Sorry for all the hassle you are having Kandy, years ago my wife stopped by the dealership and checked on a new Thunderbird that she saw on the lot, they gave her a out the door price they called it, a few days later I was in town and stopped by and bought the car $4800 less than what they told her 🥴 I think they take advantage of some people....
Wish you luck with your car adventure 🙏🙏

I feel your pain Kandy and just the other day I made a remark I would rather pay someone to get me a vehicle than to go through the purchasing process.

My only suggestion is to get what ever they say in writing, or even go to another dealer even if they are out of your way. Something fishy with what you are saying about the 2 you mention.

I’m a little confused. Are you buying a used Toyota from a Nissan dealer? If u are a Toyota dealership will not honor that warranty. In your state documentation fees and used sales fees are mandatory. The dealer is very much aware of these fees and should have included that in your final negotiated price. There is great info online in regards to your state’s requirements in regards to documentation and used car transfer fees. Good luck with your purchase. From my personal experience, if and only if, that u plan on keeping your new purchase for a long time, the cost of the extended warranty might not be a good investment. Have u considered looking into the many online car publishing websites? Greatly eliminates a lot of the hassle. Also if the dealership salesperson works on commission only they will get the most profit they can! They also get commission on selling the extended warranty!

Yes, if you mean Carfax, etc. That's how I found this one. And yes, it was supposed to be factored in to the price. Evidently he lied. My boyfriend also heard him say, more than once, there will be no added dealer fees. The battle continues.

Beautiful sunrise, Kandy.
I hope you get a quick resolution for your car purchase. In the meantime, take a timeout to gather your composure and calm your frustrations.
You’ve got this.

Don’t let them grind you down. Stick to your guns. There are other dealers out there. Try Carvana or Trucar.

A while back I was helping my son buy a used car from a dealer that started to add all that kind of crap. I told me son, 'we are leaving ' and got up and started walking away. We didn't make it to my vehicle before the salesman was chasing us down saying those charges were going to be dismissed.
So don't be afraid to walk away. Good luck Kandy

I already put $ down on this one. Just found out today with letter from Travelers, the dealer added the car to my insurance already. I didn't tell them to do that. This is nuts. I'm going Saturday to finance and put half the $ down. Unbelievable.
